A brief return to Agrabah

Our Beetlejuice tour recently completed its spring leg, and we’re now fortunate enough to be enjoying a four-week layoff before heading to Mexico City for a multiple-week run in August.

So what to do for the month of July? Come to New York, of course, and fill in two weeks at Aladdin! It’s as if I rubbed the magic lamp and the Genie granted me the perfect opportunity to do so, filling in a for a couple keyboard regulars who are both on vacation simultaneously.

Not only has it been immense fun to play this great score again, it’s given me an opportunity to reconnect with some of my favorite musician friends in NYC. Pre-show coffees and post-show drinks have become the norm the past several days, catching up with everyone’s lives and filling them in a bit on how tour life has been going and getting to share some pics of the Austin house “in progress”.

The remaining two weeks of July downtime will give me a chance to spend some days with family in Illinois and a nice chunk of time down in Austin to continue unpacking and setting up the house.

August is all about Mexico City, and I’ve already got a “to-visit” list a mile long. Stay tuned to @grobie.pix for Mexico City adventures!
